Light Rod is the php based open source reality server which was started as Mobile Maps since 1998 to 2009. The software was earlier written in Perl and later it was adapted into php. With the increase in production of augmented reality phone browsers and spread of geo-websites and geo –browsers there was a need for an open source geo search engine. In this software a database of points with latitude/longitude is taken along with a search request at a particular latitude/longitude. It gives the points that are sorted by distance. Any number of records at any distance can be scaled by this software. The Light Rod makes use of Peano codes for converting 2 dimensional planes into a single dimensional line giving nearest results.
